Our Story
Three generations. Almost 80 years. One legendary chili dog.

Where It All Began
Much has changed in the Valley since 1946. One thing that hasn't is Cupid's, home of the Valley's signature chili dog. Richard and Bernice Walsh founded the restaurant as Walsh's Hot Dogs. Richard subsequently renamed it Cupid's after his wife Bernice's nickname. The couple operated locations in North Hollywood, Van Nuys, and Canoga Park for approximately four decades.

The Second Generation
Richard and Bernice's son Rick, their "long haired surfer son," took over management in the early 1980s. He introduced ketchup and relish to the menu — a controversial decision that initially angered his father. However, after trying the additions, Richard accepted the expansion. This evolution led to the creation of "the Triangle: mustard, onions and relish" — one of our most beloved items.

Community First
When the Northridge earthquake struck, Richard came to the Van Nuys location, cleaned out the fridge, and fed the neighborhood. That's who we are — not just a hot dog stand, but a part of the community. It's something his granddaughters carry forward to this day.

The Third Generation
Sisters Kelly and Morgan Walsh became the third-generation operators in 2009. They grew up at Cupid's, with childhood memories of helping their father at the stand. The sisters maintain their grandparents' vision of quality food with a simple menu, now serving customers across three locations in two states.
